What is Kinesio Taping?

Kinesio Tape is the bright coloured strips of tape you may have seen on some top athletes. It gives support and stability to your joints and muscles without affecting your range of motion.

What does it do?

Depending on how it is applied, Kinesio tape can be used to:

  • Reduce swelling, pain or stiffness
  • Delay muscle fatigue
  • Improve posture and performance
  • Help improve injury recovery time

Whatever the problem, the aim of applying Kinesio tape is always to improve the problem.  Sometime tape will make a dramatic difference quickly, sometimes its effects are more subtle and slow.  It is recommended that you wear the tape for 48 hours before deciding whether your tape is helping you.  If it is helping it can be worn for 5-7 days.
